Today I (along with a group of other ninth graders) had the opportunity to visit Creation Technologies- a sub-contract manufacturing company. Thanks to the incredible team Creation, were able to tour the entire production floor, take part in the We Share Solar initiative, and try our own hand at soldering and testing computer components. We also got see the brains and engineering behind Amazon Robotics, New York Airbreak, OSRAM, and many more.
We worked with representatives from HR, engineers, buyers, and materials specialist, all of whom make the day to day operations at Creation possible. Materials specialists, in particular, manage the purchases of components and materials needed to create products. However, I learnt that a day at Creation would not have been complete without trying to give back to the community. Through the We Share Solar program, we were able to build 3 cost-efficient portable solar panels to send to Kenya.
While I personally would like to take a different career route from the one I experienced today (frankly, because my heart lies with the sciences), I hope to one day work in a place where people are as supportive as they are at Creation.
